Doctrine of Signatures

We are what we eat! Explore how foods can affect our body.
​The doctrine of signatures, dating from the time of Dioscorides and Galen, states that the color and shape of different plants, vegetable and fruits resembling various parts of the body can be used to treat ailments of those body parts. There was a theological justification for the doctrine of signatures, as stated by botanists William Cole that “ God would have wanted to show what plants would be useful for”.

Holy Week – Easter Triduum

Can we hear the cry of Jesus on the cross in the cry of Earth? Reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus through the suffering, death and regenerative power of Earth. Our experience of Easter gives us hope in a time of ecological decline.
The Retreat includes Holy Thursday Seder/Eucharistic Liturgy, Good Friday Way of the Cross, Holy Saturday, Great Easter Fire/Vigil and Easter Sunday Celebration.

Sitting under Springbank’s 800 year old Live Oak or spending time in Springbank’s woods of Pine, Magnolia and Cedar, you will be guided to slow down, breathe, connect with the natural world around you. Find in the company of trees, peace and companionship.
