Mystics and poets have long been understood to be in touch with the deeper things of the spirit.  This presentation will consider themes spanning the spiritual and the natural world as seen in Scripture and in the insights of St. Hildegard of Bingen, a doctor of the Church, and the Beguine visionary Mechtild of Magdeburg.  From these we will turn to earthy and spiritual expressions of some more contemporary poets and writers like Annie Dillard, Diane Ackerman, and Mary Oliver as we explore our own resonance with all creation and our loving Creator.
