We come to know things by telling their story, how they came to be and how they shaped our sense of the sacred. Creation is on-going, it is an on-going process. We may actually be in the dawn of creation.

Through story and shared dream experience, we come to a place of profound understanding of all of creation. discover that we are all shaped and formed in the same primordial furnace. To have a creation story is to have a sense of who we are and we need to know who we are.

If you have ever lifted your arms in wonder, tapped your feet to some inner song playing in your mind, held someone rocking with grief, then you understand how our bodies express what our soul knows to be true. The Bible contains many references to oils, spices, balms and the traders and merchants who sold, bartered, and used them. They give us a
glimpse into the ancient world of medicine.

"...they went out ... and they anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them." (Mark 6:12-13).

Aromatic oils for healing, cleansing, and holy anointing are mentioned more than 500 times in the Bible. We are what we eat! Explore how foods can affect our bodies.

​The doctrine of signatures, dating from the time of Dioscorides and Galen, states that herbs resembling various parts of the body can be used by herbalists to treat ailments of those body parts. A theological justification, as stated by botanists such as William Coles, was that God would have wanted to show all what plants would be useful for.

Pottery is one of the oldest known crafts. During these days, you will create several unique, earthen vessels using a hand-building technique. No art experience necessary.

Yoga is an ancient practice that helps unite the body and mind. On this yoga retreat, join Charleston yoga teacher, Joe Vinciguerra, for a Yoga, Breathing & Meditation Retreat. You will leave refreshed, renewed, and re-grounded after taking much needed time from your busy day-to-day life to un-plug and turn inward.

Participants do not need to be "yoga experts." All levels of yoga practice are welcome. Each day we will facilitate morning, afternoon, and evening yoga and meditation classes, while also providing time for individual contemplation and personal exploration of the beautiful Springbank grounds.
Awake your body each morning with an energizing morning practice, an afternoon restorative practice, and end each day with a relaxing evening practice.

‘Forest Bathing’, ‘shirin-yoku’, a Japanese term for a form of forest therapy treating the many ailments that arise from stressful urban life and busy calendars. Sitting under Springbank’s 800 year old Live Oak or spending time in Springbank’s woods of Pine, Magnolia and Cedar, you will be guided to slow down, breathe, connect with the natural world around you, finding in the company of trees peace and companionship.
